| Laboratory of synthesis of new highly thermostable polymers |

The synthesis of new highly thermostable polymers (polyimides and related compounds as well as polymers of the vinyl series) capable of functionalization in order to impart to them the indispensable mechanical, chemical, optical, electronic, and electromagnetic properties. Preparation of films from chromophore – containing polymers exhibiting nonlinear optical properties and photo – sensitivity. The synthesis of polyimides for application as matrices of composition materials exhibiting controlled structure (partly crystalline polyimides, polyimides having the structure of semiinterpenetrating network, polyimide compositions with carbon pitch) and capable of displaying high fracture toughness in combination with high tribologic characteristics. The preparation of supramolecular polymer systems: metal – polymer complexes based on ions of transition metals exhibiting electroluminescent and elecrocatalytic properties, comb-like amphiphilic polymers for obtaining Langmuir–Blodgette films, and compositions of polyheteroarylenes of different natures.
