Activities

The Institute's activities are focused on the following fields:


1. The synthesis of self-organizing (including liquid-crystalline) polymers and the study of the nature of anisotropic polymer systems.

2. The synthesis and properties of biologically active polymers based on polypeptides, polysaccharides and synthetic polymers bearing active groups.

3. The synthesis, structure and properties of polyimides and other polyheteroarylenes, processing and properties of composites based on them and exhibiting high thermal stability and high fracture toughness.

4. The synthesis and investigation of water-soluble polymers, interpolymer complexes and hydrogels.

5. The synthesis and investigation of polymers with nonlinear optical and electroconducting properties.

6. Theoretical physics of polymers; statistical properties and relaxation phenomena including the influence of external fields, computer simulation of the structure and dynamics of polymer systems.

7. Chromatographic methods of polymer analysis, isolation and purification of pharmaceutically active compounds.

8. The synthesis and properties of fullerene-containing polymers.

9. Experimental investigations of the structure of macromolecules, molecular mobility and supermolecular organization of polymer systems by various methods (polarized luminescence, electron microscopy, dielectric spectroscopy, X-ray scattering, NMR, IR and UV spectroscopy, etc.).

10. Polymer and sorption systems including microporous and gas-separation membranes.

11. The syntheses of polymer systems with complex architecture.

12. Mechanical, thermal and rheological properties of polymers.

13. Experimental study of polymers by methods of molecular hydrodynamics and optics.
